Just wondering
In the Schiavo case, and it's a total tragedy no matter what the outcome, I was just wondering if stem cell research might be useful in helping people in a progressive vegative state? Just asking. Because that would be in conflict with the Bushies approach.
The woman may be alive, but she has no quality of life. If I ever get that way, my family can yank the plug and have doctors harvest what's left that someone else can use.

It's a mess all around, that is for sure. The actions of the husband hasn't helped much either (i.e. showing up at the hospital asking "Is the bitch dead yet").
As for stem cell research helping, only time will tell, at least now we have federal funding of stem cell research. The only the Bush Administration is blocking is the collection of new embryonic stem cells. That's as big a moral quagmire as should we allow brain damaged people to slowly starve to death or at least put 'em as down quickly and painless as we would a stray dog.
