Crooks and Liars

The Governor's May budget update contains no new money for schools. None. Zip. Nada.

The governor has proven himself to be a convincing and sincere actor while running for office, and at the end has proven that his word is no good. Not trustworthy. Backstabbing. And a liar.

A number of us (parents in my neighborhood) are beginning to question the sincerity of the IUSD board's biggest Arnold support, Michael Parham. Mike says he's all about education, and he is convinced that Prop 98 is broken. Yet there is no other constitutional means for funding the schools, and the Governor's reforms don't spell out how Prop 98 can be reformed. Parnham continues his passionate support of the governor, so can aspirations of higher office be far behind?

Since so many of us in PTAs and PTSAs are working so hard to fight the Governor's reforms for education, here is Mike, on the school board, offering no help to parents but not offering any answers other than to say "prop 98 is broken." I will say publicly what many of us said privately. Mike -- who's side are you on?
